Riverhounds SC and Highmark Stadium are Taking Over!

Riverhounds SC and Highmark Stadium

The Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Highmark Stadium staff are excited to participate for the first time ever this year in the Spark Pittsburgh Step Challenge. Employees across the organization are ready to take on the challenge.

Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC is a professional soccer team that plays in the Eastern Conference of the USL Championship. This is the second tier of the American soccer pyramid. The Black and Gold is celebrating its 20th anniversary season this year.

The Hounds are always trying to improve and advance in soccer. The players, staff, and programs are always held to the highest standards. The mindset behind most of the players is to not let one minor bump in the road keep them from moving forward. With this mindset, they march forward on the field with a focus on staying in elite athletic shape.

Living and encouraging a healthy lifestyle is very important to Hounds players. Professional players promote health and fitness every day by eating right and training daily. The Riverhounds have trainers who look out for their health and wellbeing, as there are scheduled recovery days throughout the season to ensure the players are receiving adequate rest.

The players not only encourage a healthy lifestyle, but the Highmark Stadium staff does as well. In addition to organizing active on-field activities during matches, the stadium staff runs around on game day to ensure that all fans enjoy the game to the fullest.

Also associated with the Riverhounds is the Riverhounds Development Academy (RDA), a current member of the Elite Clubs National League, which consists of both boys and girls youth teams. This is the future of the Riverhounds, and they are learning about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.

In addition, the Riverhounds SC organization participates in community service events, such as Cops and Kids where professional players introduce soccer to children in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police during a day at summer camp. Furthermore, the club runs its Sub In for Gym Class program, which allows staff and Riverhounds SC players to sub in and act as physical education teachers for a day at local schools around the Pittsburgh area. With both of these initiatives, the organization promotes healthy living within its communities.

Recently, Riverhounds SC has partnered with Allegheny Health Network to construct a health and sports medicine complex in Coraopolis, Pennsylvania. This facility will further exemplify the team’s aspirations and commitment to healthy living. The facility will be a spot where the professional team and youth sports teams can compete and showcase a healthy means of living.

The main goal of the step challenge for the Riverhounds SC and Highmark Stadium staff is to have fun while promoting and living a healthy lifestyle.

Since the Riverhounds SC and Highmark Stadium employees’ ages range, not everyone is on the same fitness level. But everyone is dedicated to living the healthiest lifestyle they can. Everyone in the organization may have a different reason for taking part in the Spark Pittsburgh Step Challenge, but for everyone the Step Challenge is another opportunity to showcase the importance of healthy living.
