Employee Spotlight: Kellie Walker
Do you go by any nicknames?
My family calls me Beth, since my middle name is Elizabeth. My mother’s name is Kelly, so it helped with people in my family knowing who was being spoken to or about. Some friends call me I-E, because my name ends in those letter and my mom ends with a Y. And Kel or Kels are two that I also get called fairly often.
What is your role here at Babb, Inc.?
I am a Medical-Only worker’s comp adjuster. That simply means I only do the worker’s comp claims that don’t include any time off of work, or lost wages while the employee is injured.
Where did you go to school?
Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD
Where are you originally from?
I am originally from Piscataway, NJ. Born and raised Jersey girl.
How did you get your start in the insurance industry?
About 6 years ago, I started working for Chubb Insurance in their call center and was promoted to other positions from there. I worked for the company for 5 years and spent the majority of my time in underwriting and was a field appraiser for about a year. Prior to that I was a Branch Manager at a small savings and loan bank. This is my first position as a claims adjuster.
What’s one of your hobbies?
I am an avid reader.
What’s the last good book you read?
The last good book I read was Mr. Mercedes, By Stephen King.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?
I love seeing Broadway musicals in NYC.
What’s your favorite part of working at Babb, Inc.?
I enjoy the team atmosphere and everyone’s willingness to be helpful.
What was the first concert you went to?
A little known R&B group from the 90s, called Immature. I was probably around 12-years-old.
What is your favorite movie? TV show?
My favorite TV show would be Archer and my all-time favorite movie is Back to the Future.
What have you recently binged on Netflix?
The last show I binge watched was This is Us late last year. It wasn’t on Netflix, but I caught up on On-Demand.
What color crayon would you be and why?
Gray, because I love rainy days.
Do you play any instruments?
I know how to play the flute, French horn and alto saxophone.
