Step Challenge Check-In with Kaylee

Its check-in day! At the beginning of this year’s challenge I was off to a decent start given my training schedule. Since my race, I’ve been giving my body a break and haven’t been running or working out. As much as I love being active, I realize rest and recovery is an important part of the process. To keep me moving, I picked up a part-time job which has me on my feet and walking a great deal. While taking a break from my normal training, it has allowed me keep up with my coworkers on the leader board.

After my race, people asked how it went, how I did, and what my time was. It wasn’t my best race. Truthfully, it was my worst. My IT bands started to act up half way through the race and I set a new personal record for worst time. I’m not ashamed of it. Part of why I agreed to be a spokesperson, was so that I could help show others, that no matter what age or activity level you are, there will always be areas of your life that you can improve upon.

My 2017 New Year’s resolution was to run two half marathons. Throughout the year my mantra has been, “Do Better,” which I have not only incorporated into my running but also into other facets of my life. For the year, I accomplished my goal but look to next year with the hope that I will do better.

Happy stepping,

Kaylee
