Meet Our Step Challenge Expert Spokesperson: Bree Leyer

Ahoy! I’m Bree and I’ll be one of the spokespeople for the SparkPittsburgh Step Challenge! As the health and productivity consultant for Babb, Inc., I spend a lot of time navigating the health and wellness waters for tips, trends, and techniques to implement wellbeing programs at various organizations.

Growing up, I was always passionate about helping others and being active. This lifestyle eventually led to the decision to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology (the study of mechanics relating to body movement) as well as a Master’s degree in exercise science with a concentration in corporate wellness.

My first job out of college was as an assistant coach for a collegiate equestrian team. During my time there, I helped to develop an exercise program for the team members, coach practices, and support team members during competition. Although I loved being with the team, I knew I wanted to do more for others and so I decided to go back to school for my Master’s degree.

You could say I’m not a “traditionalist” when it comes to my activities.  My passions are horseback riding, sailing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, stand-up paddle boarding… basically any activity that involves horses or water! Being passionate about my activities allows me to truly enjoy exercising, which makes it easier to do on a regular basis.

That being said, I am here to help you.  If you are having difficulty creating and finding ways to stay active, be healthier, or just keeping yourself motivated, do not be afraid to contact me for help.  I am here, throughout the challenge, to answer all of your questions, and, most importantly, make sure you are doing your best to get up and moving.  You can contact me at bkl@babbins.com throughout the entire Step Challenge!

We are so excited for this year’s SparkPittsburgh Company Step Challenge and are thrilled with the response so far! We’ve surpassed our goal of 100 companies participating and love that we have had to set a new goal of 150! And although we’ve set the goal of one billion steps, our biggest and most important goal is, simply put, to get people moving. Whether it’s an extra 50 or 5000 steps, every step matters and helps you! Let’s get out and get moving!
