Employee Spotlight: Heidi Detweiler

What is your role here at Babb, Inc.?

I’m the new COBRA Administrator.

Where did you go to school? (High School, trade school, college, etc.)

I went to Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and I went to college at Pace University in New York, New York.

How did you get your start in the insurance industry?

I transitioned from working in TV to working in insurance. I used to work at Discovery Communications on the TLC network, but decided I wanted to do something that has a greater effect on people.

What’s one of your hobbies?

I have a lot of hobbies, but one of my favorites is writing. Ever since I was in 5th grade, I loved to write. I’ve also recently gotten into board games. My favorite is Takenoko!

What’s the last good book you read?

The last exceptionally good book I read was How to Be a Bawse by Lilly Singh.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

I was adopted when I was 20-months-old and came to the U.S. from Ahmedabad, India.

I also have a random extra crease on my right pointer finger.

What’s your favorite part of working at Babb, Inc.?

The awesome people and the wellness program!

What Hogwarts House would you be sorted into?

Well, I’ve already taken the test online (naturally) and it informed me that I would be sorted into Gryffindor.

What or who is your spirit animal and why?

A red panda, hands down. They are pretty spacey but equally lovable and playful, and I’d like to think that’s me.

What is your favorite movie? TV show?

My favorite movie of all time is Monster.

My favorite TV show of all time is Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

What have you recently binged on Netflix?

Parks & Recreation!

What 3 fictional characters best describe you and why?

Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer – Because, for some reason, I always identify with tragic hero figures.

April Ludgate from Parks & Recreation – Because she is weird, but secretly loves animals and has a heart of gold.

Lane from Gilmore Girls – Because even though she is Asian, 99.9% of what she identifies with is American.
